Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, by Eoin Colfer, continues Artemis Fowl's adventures in 352 pages with his fairy companions. After a mix of fairy and human technology are stolen from Artemis, he and his companions set out to steal it back from Jon Spiro, a greedy American. The fairies help on one condition, Artemis and his human companions will be brainwashed after recovering the C Cube. This novel is a very good page-turner..

Brisingr!, the 748 page sequel to Eldest, by Christopher Paolini, continues Eragon's explosive adventures throughout Alagaesia. After the Varden once again rout King Galbatorix's army, Eragon is sent to the capital of the dwarfs to ensure the election of a Varden-friendly king. After this, Eragon and Saphira journey to Ellesmera to visit their teachers. Galeder gives Eragon and Saphira his Eldunari`, or heart of hearts, so Eragon and Saphira could communicate with him even after his death. Eragon and Saphira then fly to Fenister, a city in the Empire, and help the Varden capture it, while Orimis and Galedr are defeated by Murtagh and Thorn with the help of Galbatorix. This novel is just as much as a page-turner as its prequels.

Eldest, the 668 page sequel to Eragon by Christopher Paolini, begins after the giant army of Urgals is defeated. Eragon then travles to the elven city Ellesmera to continue his training with a dragon and Dragon Rider of old, Galedr and Oromis. Mean while, Eragon's cousin, Roran, and Eragon's home village, Carvahall, are attacked by the king's minions in an attempt to capture Roran and use him as a lure for Eragon. Eragon discovers that the Varden is about to be attacked, so he and Saphira fly to the Varden where Eragon confronts a new dragon and Rider, Thorn and Murtaugh. Murtaugh defeats Eragon, takes his sword, and tells Eragon that he is the son of Morzan, an evil Dragon Rider. This novel is just as full of action as Eragon.

Eragon, a 544 page, acton packed novel by Christopher Paolini, depicts the journey of Eragon, a farmboy, after he discovers a dragon egg. Once Eragon's uncle, Garrow was killed by the mad, twisted, Dragon Rider king's servents, Eragon sets out to gain revenge with his dragon, Saphira, and Brom, a storyteller that turns out to be a long lost Dragon Rider. After Brom is killed by the king's servants, the Ra'zac, Eragon, Saphira, and Eragon's travling companion, Murtagh, flee to the Varden, a group of rebels, after rescuing an elf, Arya, from a prison. After this, Eragon kills a shade, a human possessed by spirits, and the Varden repels an giant army of Urgals with the help of Eragon and the Dwarfs. This great novel is among the three best novels I have read, the other two being the sequels.

On the Far Side of the Mountain

Living in the Catskill Mountains is very hard. After Sam Gribley's endangered peregriene falcon, Frightful, is confiscated by a conservation officer, he is devestated. This deep sorrow only worsons when his sister, Alice, leaves their forest home to make her own. . Sam sets off with Bando, a fellow woodsman to find his falcon and sister. On the Far Side of the Mountain is a great read for grades 3 through 7.
I recommend this book with great entusiasim. The action develops very quickly, introducing the problem from the beginning. Also, the author builds the mystery of Sam's falcon and sister until the climax expertly. The solution is semi- happy, but not unrealistically so. This ingeniously written novel has absolutly no faults.
All in all, this book is addicting from beginning to end. It teaches a great lesson, hang on to what you love. The forest gives it a peaceful bit intense setting, which only adds to the perfection of this novel. All children in primary grades should read this book.

Dragonwings, by Lawrence Yep, depicts the adventures of a young boy, Moon Shadow, and his father, Windrider, in America in 317 pages. When Windrider first came to America, he had a dream that he was a dragon in a former life, but had to pass tests to become one again. Moon Shadow strives to help Windrider become a dragon by building and flying an airplane. This book is a great read!!

Ranger’s Apprentice: The Siege of Macindaw, by John Flanagan, contains 293 action packed pages. Will, a Ranger, continues his quest to capture Castle Macindaw, a part of Norgate Fief, from the evil Lord Keren. But when Will uncovers a plot of the Scotti to take over the whole of Norgate Fief, the urgency of capturing Castle Macindaw only increases. Can the brave Will capture Castle Macindaw with only 25 soldiers and a knight before time runs out?

In Ranger’s Apprentice: The Siege of Castle Macindaw Will is very brave. He sneaks around the castle risking getting caught and killed so that his forces will have the upper hand when they attack. Will risks his life to capture a Scotti general. He storms a castle with minimal forces too. As you can see, this action packed book is a great read.
