Ranger's Apprentice: The Ice Bound Land, by John Flanagan, continues the Ranger's Apprentice series with 288 action packed pages. In the previous book, Will is captured by after destroying the bridge and taken to Skandia to be used as a slave, but with the help of his captor, Jarl Erak, Will escapes. Meanwhile Halt and Horace, Will's knight friend, are traveling to Skandia to rescue Will. This book is a great read.




Ranger's Apprentice: The Burning Bridge, by John Flanagan, is the 262 page action packed sequel to Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan. With the imposing war between Araulen and Morgarath brewing, Will is sent to invoke a mutual treaty between Araulen and it's neighbor, Celtica. But, Will finds a huge bridge being constructed by Morgarath to use to invade Araulen. Can Will destroy the bridge in time? Find out in this great read.

Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan, by John Flanagan, contains 249 action packed pages. It is about a young boy, Will, who becomes a Ranger. Will thought that Rangers used black magic to sneak around, until he becomes one. Will has to use many of his skills to kill the Kalkara, evil assassins, before they murder his mentor, Halt. This is an extremely action packed read.

Maus I and Maus II, by Art Spigelman, depict a Jew's life in Poland during the Holocaust through 295 graphic pages. Once the Germans attack Poland, Vladek, a Jew, joins the Polish army to fight them. He is captured and put in a camp, but is let back to his home later. The Nazis start killing Jews, so he hides with his family in a bunker, but they are found and taken to Auschwitz. Luckily, the Nazis run away from Auschwitz and the advancing Russian battlefront, and Vladek and his wife survive. These two books are very interesting and informational.

Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, By Eoin Colfer, contains 277 pages about a young criminal mastermind, Artemis Fowl, who tries to rescue his father who was captured by the Russian Mafia. But right as Artemis is about to leave his manor in Ireland, he and his bodyguard, Butler, are apprehended by the fairy police force. The fairies cut Artemis a deal. If Artemis helps the fairies eliminate a smuggling ring, they will help Artemis free his father. The preserving Artemis Fowl works harder than expected on what could have been much easier tasks in Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident.
In Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, Artemis Fowl perserveres to get his father home. All he wants is his father to come home. He tries to fund search teams to find his father, He was even ready to confront the Russian Mafia to get his father back. Artemis would do anything to get his father back, even deal with the fairies. This book is a very good read.

Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer, contains 277 pages packed with action. Artemis Fowl, a devious criminal mastermind, has tried and tried to obtain a copy of the fairy bible, the Book. After he finally succeeds, he fairy-naps a fairy police agent. He tries to ransom the fairy back to the fairy government, but his threats only provoke the fairies to perform a time stop. After returning from space, Alex Rider is taken to the Australian SAS base in Swanborn, where he meets Ethan Brook, the head of ASIS, who persuades Alex to go on an undercover mission to be smuggled by a snakehead, a gang, with Ash, Alex's godfather. Alex agrees, but only to find out more about his past. Alex is whisked to Bangkok where he and Ash begin their journey back to Australia via smuggling. Boy of the Painted Cave, by Justin Denzel, has 158 page. Tao, the main character in this book, wants to draw and paint. This is forbidden in his clan, so he has to be careful about when and where he paints. Greybeard, a cave painter, teaches Tao how to draw better, so Tao can take Greybeard's place as cave painter. In the end of Boy of the Painted Cave, Tao becomes a cave painter. Tao and the society of his clan constantly conflict in Boy of the Painted Cave.
Tao breaks the rules of his clan throughout Boy of the Painted Cave. He hunts with a wolf dog even though they are taboo. Tao also hunts in the Slough, which is deemed to be filled with demons. He paints and draws too. This is the biggest rule which he has broken. As you can see, Tao breaks many taboos of his clan in Boy of the Painted Cave.

Ark Angel







Ark Angel, a 326 page book by Anthony Horowitz, tells the tale of Alex Rider's sixth adventure. After being shot by a contract killer in Skorpia, he recuperates in a celebrity hospital in a room next to a multi-billionare's son, Paul Drevin. When Alex overhears four men talking about kidnapping Paul, Alex saves Paul by defeating the men by using the element of suprise. After Alex defeats them, he is captured by the fifth man assinged to the job. Following this, Alex escapes from his captors and discovers Paul's dad's plan to destroy the Pentagon. Scorpia, Alex Rider's fifth adventure written by Anthony Horowitz, has 369 pages. In this book, Alex goes to France to find out more about a criminal organization called Scorpia that his father worked for. He is recruited by them and is sent to kill the MI6 Head of Special Operations, Mrs. Jones. Alex fails this task and is captured. MI6 tells Alex about an operation Scorpia is operating. He helps MI6 foil Scorpia's plan and learns the truth about his father. This is a great read for anyone!

Eagle Strike






Eagle Strike, a 340 page action packed book by Anthony Horowitz, depicts Alex Rider's fourth adventure. Everyone in England loves Damian Cray, but Alex has his doubts. Cray, in most everyone's view, is a planet saving hero. All of this is true, but Cray has a different method of saving a planet. Murder. This time, Alex has to save millions of people from nuclear missiles. He only has to press one button, but how will he get to it? Find out in Eagle Strike, Alex's fourth adventure.

Skeleton Key






Skeleton Key, a 327 page book by Anthony Horowitz, is packed with action and adventure. On Alex Rider's third adventure, Alex goes to an island off of the coast of Cuba, Skeleton Key, posing as a child on vacation with two undercover CIA agents. The two agents are investigating a man who lives on the island who they suspect has a nuclear bomb. After the two agents get killed, Alex decides to take over the mission himself. This is a great book and should be read by the whole world.

Point Blank







Point Blank, a 247 page book by Anthony Horowitz, is packed with action! It is about a boy named Alex Rider who becomes a spy for MI6. On his second adventure, he goes to and academy in the French Alps for rebel boys, Point Blanc, to investigate its headmaster, Hugo Grief. It turns out that Grief had cloned himself and replaced the boys with his clones. Alex discovers that all of the boys are from rich families and that if the clones replaced the boys, the clones would obtain the family wealth. The clones would give this money to Hugo, and he would takeover the world with money. Alex stops this by escaping from the academy and returning with a crack SAS squad and blowing up Grief's helicopter with him in it. Anyone who reads this book will absolutely love it.

Stormbreaker, a 234 page novel by Anthony Horowitz, will glue readers to their seats until finished. Alex Rider, a 14 year old English boy, finds himself thrown into a world of spies, assassins, and blackmail soon following the death of his uncle, Ian Rider, who was a spy for MI6. MI6 blackmails Alex so that he will go to a computer laboratory where Herod Sayle, a computer scientist, is manufacturing a new type of computer which he plans to give to every school in England. Alex finds out Herod is putting smallpox virus in each computer to kill school children in all of England, but Alex prevents this by parachuting into the Science Museum in London and shooting the main stormbreaker, the new type of computer, so that it can't activate the smallpox virus. Alex Rider is very adventurous, this much is obvious.
Adventurous is a character trait that should definantly be given to Alex Rider. Firstly, Alex jumps across the ledge of a 15 story building just ot satisfy is curiosity. Second, Alex pickpockets his drill sergeant, even though he could get in a great deal of trouble. Lastly, he parachutes into the Science Museum in London and shoots the Prime Minister of England to prevent him from turning on a computer that contains a smallpox virus. Any reader would absolutely love this book.
